Golf Tips

Golf Practice Net

There will be times when you want to golf and the weather is bad or your current housing situation does not allow for proper practice. With golf practice nets you will be able to avert your personal golfing crisis and focus on what really matters: proper stroke technique. Top golf tips commonly recommend that an avid hobbyist, casual enthusiast, semi professional, and full flight professional pursue labor saving devices intended specifically for the sport. The most useful among these devices tend to be the ones that lend themselves to stroke practice and swing practice.
Golf practice nets can be very useful because of their portability, their low maintenance expense, and for their convenience. Beyond these reasons, a net can be very affordable for the layman and does not require a profuse level of knowledge to operate. The golf net can be placed in any setting whether it is inclement weather, tight space constraints, indoors, outdoors, at the place of work, at the home, or even out on the golf course itself. Practicing on a driving range can cost some serious money at nicer facilities but golf practice nets are usually covered by the expense of four or five visits to the driving range.
While a net will not give you an accurate gauge of distance per swing, a net can provide the receptacle upon which you may work on your form constantly and repeatedly until you are ready to head out to the golf course. Another reason to consider a golf net would be because it is an environmentally friendly way to practice one’s shot without wasting all the gas it would take to drive to the golf club or course and back. A person can easily spend hundreds of dollars on gas in the course of a practicing year.

The Golf Buddy GPS Than Means No Annual Fees

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

Golfbuddy are a high profile company that specialize in creating high quality golf laser rangefinders and GPS systems that let you see exactly where you are on the course with relation to the many hazards. One thing that cheeses many people off is the need for an annual fee in order to retain the ability to download new maps. Golf GPS companies have found this way of creating a constant income a great way to extract money from users of their products, but with the advance of technology, high capacity databases, and super fast broadband soon this kind of extortion will hopefully become a thing of the past – and if Golf Buddy have their way, it may be sooner than you think.

The Golfbuddy World Platinum requires no fee, and it comes with free updates and over 35,000 golf courses available right from the moment that you buy it. Now this is actually most of the golf courses that you will find in the world, so quite how they managed this is quite a mystery. The overhead view on the display is no slouch, with a resolution that is nearly as high as an Apple iPhone screen. It is touch sensitive as well, so you can easily move the pin, work out how far you are from a sand trap, water, and so on pretty easily by a swipe of the finger. One thing that is does not have is an overhead fly by, which is a little bit of a disappointment if you like these sorts of things.

The batteries on the unit is pretty good for the large screen, and it will last for at least 2 rounds before you will have to pack away another spare battery. If you want a golf GPS with zero subscription fees, maybe you need the Golf Buddy World Platinum.

Basic Tips in Golf Events

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

Professional and amateur golfers usually hold conferences, and or tournaments. Events like these need thorough planning as well. This article will discuss how personalized golf balls play a role in these events.

Conferences and tournaments should be planned well. If you are to use personalized golf balls as tokens in these events, you must consider other aspects to see the relevance of these items to the overall success of the events.

Consider the setting and theme of the events to match the personalized lost golf balls. Usually, golf events are done outdoors because golf is an outdoor sport. However, the weather condition must be taken into consideration as well. Aside from considering that golf is an outdoor sport, think about the number of your guests as well. If you opt to invite just a few, 50 or less people, you may opt to hold the event indoors instead. The ideal size of a venue is the one that has enough room for everybody without looking jammed or empty.

Then, once the venue has been decided, choose the theme of the event. A theme is an important factor as well because it gives the extra touch of interest to be enjoyed by the guests. You can play with different theme orientation, depending also to a common denominator among your guests. If they seem to be all dads or grandfathers, think of a theme that best fits them.

Lastly, choosing the best personalized golf balls as tokens must be thoroughly planned, too, because it will give a long-lasting intuition to the guests. Why give away personalized golf balls instead of a note card or other golf equipment? Distinctive, simple, yet interesting—these perhaps are the reasons why you must select personalized golf balls as tokens. Usually, in any kind of events, hosts giveaways note cards, t-shirts, caps, or mugs as tokens. Are they too overrated? Yes, they are, so If I were you, think of something that will live a striking impression to your guests. Among the other pieces of golf equipment, golf balls are practical and less expensive. Just imagine if golf clubs or golf tees are to be given away. Golf clubs are too big, or shall I say long, whereas golf tees are too small that your guests may even misplace it before they even reach home. Get the picture?

In a personalized golf ball, there is enough surface where you can have an imprint of a short note for your guests and at the same time, there is enough space as well of a small imprint of logos from any sponsors. The best part is, your guests may even use the balls once they hit the course.

So, plan your event ahead using these basic tips, and good luck.

Types of Callaway Golf Clubs Available

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

Callaway is one of the biggest names in golf equipment, with Callaway golf clubs leading the company today, as they have for most of its history. Golf clubs in the Callaway lineup include the following types:

  • Drivers
  • Irons
  • Wedges
  • Fairway woods
  • Hybrids
  • “I-MIX” clubs

The I-MIX club line is unique in that the shafts and clubs are interchangeable. This is particularly ideal for golfers who want to have more control over the physics of the club (either for height reasons or technique reasons).

Of those categories, the largest in terms of number of products available is the drivers category. Currently, Callaway makes seven different drivers (five for men, two for women). There are six irons, four fairway woods, three hybrids, and two wedges. Perhaps the biggest name, style wise, is the Big Bertha. The company manufactures six different styles of golf ball.

Callaway golf clubs are some of the best quality, most well-known, and most trusted golf clubs on the market. Part of what makes the Callaway line so agreeable is that their prices range significantly, depending on what you are looking to buy and how much you can afford to spend.

The prices you will find for a Callaway club generally range from $50 to $800. That’s quite a span because different club styles require different amounts of materials, different types of materials, and different levels of finesse and detail in the design and construction of the club.

While you could go to a discount store and buy generic clubs for the cost of one or two Callaways, the Callaways are much more likely to perform well and last a long time. A good way of getting a deal is to buy clubs in sets, such as 8 for $1,000 for example.

The Benefits of Using a Golf GPS Unit

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Golf GPS units have become increasingly popular among golfers who wish to give themselves the competitive edge on the course. Today there are a wide variety of golf GPS devices designed to suit golfers of all skill levels. These devices communicate via satellite in the same way that Global Positioning Systems work in cars.

The primary benefit of a golf GPS unit is that it quickly provides the user with an accurate measurement of the distance to the hole. With this information in hand golfers can devise their optimal strategy for the hole and make better choices on the type of club to use. Players can easily estimate the necessary amount of power needed to make the shot. Most current models will also warn you of any upcoming water hazards or bunkers and direct your shot to right location. Using the Zoom feature, found in models such as the uPro GPS, you can check your present position while analyzing the position in regards to your target or the other parts of the golf course.

Golf GPS systems enable beginners to improve their skills immediately. This can help level the playing field for new players or to take away some of the advantages from other players who are more familiar with the course. In golf, like in many other sports, there is an inherent “home field advantage” when competing on familiar turf. Golf GPS units help keep everyone on an even keel.

A golf GPS device can also help players track their progress. Electronic scorecards make it simple to view your historical records on each course and to easily calculate your handicap. High-end GPS units track additional data, such as shot distance, giving you even more insight into the strengths and weaknesses of your game. When conducting a golf GPS comparison it is important to take note of the additional features that the unit provides.

It is easy to see why so many golfers have embraced the use of GPS technology to enhance their game. In sports, as in life, information is truly king. As the popularity of these systems increases in the coming years it will become imperative for players to get aboard in order to remain competitive.

Golf Swing Tips for Newbies: 3 Things You Must Do To Ensure Proper Golf Swing Physics

Friday, March 12th, 2010

When a new player first begins to play golf there are tons of aspects that need to be learned in order to approach some semblance of efficient play. It’s not surprising because while golf is a lot of fun, it is one of the most challenging sports that you can play. There is always room for improvement whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro. People who love playing golf are always open to new golf swing tips and ideas that are going to help improve their game. New golfers in particular are typically searching high and low for beginner golf tips that will speed up the process of improvement.  Newbies should be sure to focus first on their golf swing physics because swing technique is far more important to learn when you are a new at the game. If you ingrain poor habits early on, they are much more difficult to un-learn later on.

When you are trying to manage, understand or improve your swing physics, you are, by nature, working to improve your actual full golf swing.   There are a many things to remember but one of the best golf swing tips you will get regarding how to swing a golf club is to ensure that you don’t make the mistake of snapping your wrist at the top of your backswing.  If you look at photos of the best golfers in the world at the top of their backswing, you will see a flat, straight wrist.  Imagine wearing a watch on your wrist on the hand that holds the end of the golf club.  If you were to slide a ruler underneath the watch face on the back of the wrist, the best PGA tour players’ wrist and hand would be as straight as this ruler.

A lot of high handicap golfers do not keep their wrist flat at the top of the backswing because they don’t know that this is something they should do. If you don’t ingrain this as a habit at the beginning of your golfing career, it is very, very difficult to implement later. Failing to have a straight wrist at the top of the backswing has a negative impact on the consistency of your swing and the impact position of the club head at the bottom of the swing.

If you want to maximize the true intention of the swing physics that were manufactured into your clubs and is also inherent your physiology, you must keep your arm, wrist and hand in line as if they were all one spoke of a bicycle wheel.

Another tip that new golfers are usually unaware of is the need to tense and flex the large muscle groups in your legs and trunk in order to get more power into your swing.  For instance, a subtle thing that most good players know is how to create a resistance coil using their back leg, hip and trunk.  This is a move that you won’t notice unless you look really closely.  However, you can feel it very clearly if you plant your back foot with the intent of not moving it, then turn your body toward and behind the same foot.  Torque builds up in the thigh first, then in the trunk until you’ve reached your body’s limit of flexibility.  This tension is then used in conjunction with the arm swing to create serious golf swing power without undue exertion.

This is one of the coolest aspects of golf swing physics and is also why super thin, short guys on the PGA tour can produce dead straight 300 yard drives without looking like they are trying very hard. If you maximize the efficiency of your own swing mechanics you too can ensure that these same physical processes will occur for you as efficiently as possible. If you ensure that there is a maximum amount of power distributed to the ball you will not have to strain yourself much to produce incredible shots and will look like quite a shark in your foursome.

The last swing tip you should remember is “Balance!”  You should setup your golf swing so that you are always in balance throughout the swing. Proper front to back and left to right balanced motion is a by-product of an accurate, under control, efficient golf swing.  Great balance also produces great tempo.  A professional golfer’s tempo always makes it seem like they are merely making a practice swing.

In the department of “under promise – over deliver!” I will provide you with one more magical beginner golf tip that newbies should focus on: Proper alignment at setup.  Alignment is key because you can have a million dollar Golden Tee swing, but if you have poor alignment with respect to your target path you will still produce a two-bit shot.  The best thing to do when you set yourself up prior to a swing is hold the golf club across your feet, knees, waist and shoulders to very quickly determine whether each section is perfectly pointed to the target prior to the swing.  If you do not get into this habit, you may eventually notice that your eyes will trick you into thinking that you are properly aligned when you are not!

Take these pointers with you the next time you head to the driving range.  This game of golf will never become boring because there is always an area or two we can get to work on and improve.
